About Jan Taylor

Inspired by both nature and animals, Jan Taylor shares her immense gifts & talents with us.  Her ability to empathize with human and animal relationships led to a successful career as one of the leading animal portrait artists in the country.  “It’s in their eyes” you’ll say!  Her brush truly brings ones companion to life thus capturing their personality and your heart. Look at Jan’s use of deep rich vivid saturated colors with enhanced gestural lines. Her unique “Taylored Relief” textured paintings come alive so much you’ll want to reach out and touch the canvas.  Well, you just can’t have one!  A “Taylored Relief” painting that is.  They make any room come alive with quiet vibrancy.

As an avid equestrian her whole life, one will find Jan outdoors with her animals and nature when she’s not painting.  Her equine art like “Thunder River,” “His Majesty” and “Whisper” have had early collectors following for years.  As we look on to this portrayal of their bold strength with graceful play, we can only help but wonder more about man’s relationship with this spirited yet gentle creature.  “Tres Princesses” one of Jan’s relief paintings shares the energy & emotional charge she feels in connection with horses.
After receiving her degree in Fine Arts from Northern Arizona University, Jan has resided in both Colorado and Arizona where her nature influence has flourished. Her most recent famous painting, “In My Backyard” depicts the wildlife family of the Sonoran Desert where she lives. “They all look like you could just invite them into the house” said one collector. “Her nature paintings have this unspoken harmony that adds an artful serenity to my home.”
