In Jan's own words:

“In my travels through the Southwest, I have come to experience a sense of serenity and timelessness, which I want to share in my work. I hear the ancient voices, I feel the rhythm of the land and the seasons, and it moves me to speak in the way I best know how. I enjoy sharing the experience of different cultures. Seeing how ‘we are all a part of the plan’ is done through being involved with all creatures. Understanding their perspective and setting my own aside long enough to hear their truth, has given me a deeper relationship with myself and others. As an artist, so much of what I strive for is an authenticity, honoring what’s real and true in my work.”

Jan's Inspiration

Her love of the desert and many animals she rescued, fostered and had as her own pets was her inspiration. This natural relationship gave her the ability to capture the essence of her subjects, their spirit, soul and commanding presence and transfer that essence to her canvas.
